Sophie was such a sweetie. She took a bit to get her to fall asleep… {she didn’t want to miss her own shoot, naturally} but when she did, she was amazing. 🙂 You can tell where she got it though {the amazing part, not the falling asleep part -i really wouldn’t know about that!} because her parents were so sweet. Mom and Dad were both there, along with Grandma, and I could have hung out with any of them anytime. AND they were really SO relaxed for first time parents, it made my job easy! Enjoy you guys. 🙂

The headband is from Sweet Violet Kisses and the darling hat is from Briar Rose

I know it’s nice and warm outside right now (for us here in Atlanta at least) but it wasn’t when I got these. My amazing sister-in-law made them, and I’m in lOvE! Adorable, right?!? Watch out Pinterest!

Just had to share. Hope you’re having a great weekend! 🙂

I don’t know what it is about the little one, but I could stare into her eyes all day. When they say the eyes are a window to the soul, I think this is where they get the saying. Editing was quite the experience, because I was just drawn in and captivated by her the entire time. I’ve had babies with big beautiful eyes before, but none of them compared to this little one with her big deer eyes. Can’t you just feel her piercing deep down into your soul? And her skin? Yes, it’s naturally that perfect. I had to do nothing to it! SO lovely. 🙂

admin - Thanks Julie! I believe she was about 3 months. Hope the shoot with your little one turned out well, it’s such a fun stage!ReplyCancel

So Tyler here I think had us worried. He became Mr. serious as soon as he got here. Content, but serious. And he stayed that way until he left. I think he almost fell asleep sitting next to his mom while we chatted, which was a first! But have no fear, we did end up with plenty of happy ones, and plenty of pleasant, or more thoughtful ones as well. And yes, you may recognize him from a few of his previous sessions, for which he’s aptly been nicknamed by those of you out there as my “Gerber Baby”. I think it’s totally fitting, don’t you?! Oh, and seriously… check out those thighs. Adorable!

So you put a bunch of photographers together, and what do you think they do? Take pictures. It doesn’t matter what we used to do so, we just all took photos. And the funny thing is, there seems to be this unwritten rule that you can photograph a complete stranger at these things because, “Hey, we’re all photographers”, right?  So this is how it goes at WPPI.  Funniest moment was when Becki (from Photography By Becki Kanigan) was practicing some posing techniques on me while I got to play model. We decided we were done, and as we stop, this random guy says “no, keep going… this looks really cool.. see?” as he proceeds to show me pictures he’d been taking of me while I was posing. Creepy, right? But no, because that seems to be what we all do there. Pictures of strangers is OKAY. Strange, I know..but you just roll with it.  We kept joking around with him through the evening, and, well, anyway, turns out this “creeper” was an award winning photographer. As he was called up to accept an award that night, our jaws dropped. And no, this wasn’t the first year he’d won either.  Guess we should have let that creeper shoot away. Who knows… maybe we could have won him some awards! lol  So here are some picts we took while messing around on the last day. Everyone had cleared out for the most part…. so we just took over the conference area.

What happens in Vegas should definitely NOT stay there! If it does, you are up to the wrong things. Haha! So last week I was able to take my yearly trek out to Las Vegas for the WPPI (wedding & portrait photographers international) convention. And I tell you, this thing just gets bigger and bigger every year. Last year there were over 15,000 photographers there, and this year I heard rumors of up to 17,000! Um. WOW. To top it off I was able to go with one of my favorite people in the entire world. It was a blast and I got to meet so many legends in the industry, and play catch up with those I already know. I met Bambi Cantrell, (more with her later) who is one of those legendary, along with the hilarious David Beckstead, rock star in the editorial Lindsay Adler, business suave Dane Sanders, the insanely creative Michael Greenberg, super darling and daring Dixie Dixon and one of my all around favorites (because she is just as amazing as a person and friend as a photographer) Tamara Lackey.  And really, that’s just the beginning of the list, plus all the other photographers there for the convention like me. I came home exhausted, but really excited for all the things I want to bring to you guys and my business. So over the next couple of weeks I am going to be working on some samples of amazing new products I am going to have (so watch for those), and some behind the scene work that none of you will care about but should make things for me much more efficient. Yay!!

Okay, so I have to go back to Bambi Cantrell for just a moment.  I had already talked to Bambi earlier in the day, so when we showed up and sat on the front row it kind of set us up for danger I suppose (and believe me, I am not normally a front row kinda gal. I’m more of a back row by the door so I can sneak out kinda girl).  Mid-way into her presentation she called me, and two other photographers (the awesome girl I went with, and a new friend we had just met from Cali) up on the stage in front of anywhere between 700-1000 other photographers to use as her “bridesmaids” in this set up. Not something I was ready for… and I was so tired and not at my cutest, but do you think I was going to say no? NO WAY! So up we went! Lucky for us one of the girls had her husband there, so he got a little on video (so we won’t ever be able to forget this!), and another sweet photography couple sitting next to me took a few pictures for us (somehow no one seemed to have gotten the first set up. the poor girl from Cali had to hold my cold clammy hand as if we were best friends. What can I say, I was a little nervous up there! Frankly, I’m surprised she is still talking to me!). So here you go. This is my big debut. Be ready for my name on the big screen next! lol
